I’m taking a bit of a gamble with the story I’m planning to tell first. I started it about half a year ago and then broke it off because I couldn’t get any further with the plot development.
It was both a problem with the perspective and the tense. I couldn’t decide on either. I tried to tell the story in the present tense from a first-person perspective, but the combination of the two considerably limits the topics that can be told. What doesn’t happen in an instant, what is not perceived by the character, can only be described artificially or awkwardly.
I finally found the right perspective and tense, but the story didn’t want to develop as I had imagined. It became broad and slow and labored.
I’m curious to see whether I’ll succeed in a second attempt, with appropriate deletions, in making the basic idea more pointed, concise and convincing.

Bei der Geschichte, die ich plane zu erst zu erzählen, gehe ich ein gewisses Wagnis ein. Ich habe sie, vor ca. einem halben Jahr begonnen und dann abgebrochen, weil ich mit der Entwicklung des Plots nicht weiterkam.

Versucht war ich, die Geschichte im Präsens aus der Ich-Perspektive zu erzählen, beides kombiniert schränkt aber erheblich die Themen ein, die man erzählen kann. Was nicht in einem Augenblick geschieht, was nicht, von der Figur wahrgenommen wird, lässt sich nur künstlich oder umständlich schildern.
Schließlich fand ich die passende Perspektive und Zeitform, aber die Geschichte wollte sich nicht entwickeln, wie ich es mir vorgestellt habe. Sie wurde breit und langsam und bemüht.
Ich bin gespannt, ob es mir bei einem zweiten Versuch, mit entsprechenden Streichungen, gelingt zugespitzt, prägnant und überzeugend die Grundidee auszuführen.
Vermutlich nächsten Samstag erscheint hier Kapitel 1.
